The Mysterious Stink!!!

So, I have what some people might call a lot of diaper bags. I have 5 total if you count the 2 purses I use as diaper bags. One might figure that I don't see some of these diaper bags too often, what with the variety I have. This has proven to be the case with diaper bag number one. We'll call her "red". Okay, now for the story. One Sunday morning, I pulled "red" out from the far recesses of Chloe's room and I threw some things in her and got ready for church. I noticed "red" kind of smelled when I opened her up, but I new I didn't have time to deal with it because it was time to leave for church. So, I dug through "red" superficially and couldn't find anything that would produce that smell. So I grabbed "red" and off we went. During the meeting I couldn't do anything but smell the funky stench coming from our bag. I wondered what the stink was. I asked Brad what he thought the stink was. We picked the bag up and took in a deep sniff. Gagging, we didn't know what it was, we decided it must be some sour milk on the exterior of the bag. So we tried to igore the smell. But trying to igore that smell was like trying to be polite to someone you have to talk to that has breath that smells like hotdogs, or being forced to sit next to someone who has B.O, or stinky feet. It was bad! The meeting ended and Brad to "red" and Chloe and the smell. I didn't remember it again till Monday morning. I decided to clean all 5 of her diaper bags and start fresh. I cleaned the 4 bags and then went out to the car to retreive "red". And this is what I found tucked way back in a forgotten fold.
WARNING: These photos may cause gagging.

I am actually holding 3 items in my hand. #1, a wet wipe to act as a barried between me and the thing. #2 a sock which is stuck to the thing, and #3 the thing.

Any guesses? Yes, it's an orange. And my guess is the orange is from Christmas because that was the last time I used "red" because she matched my red Christmas clothes.

And here is "red" soaking in the tub. This happened last week and the poor bag is still sitting on the back porch. I'm pretty sure I don't have the heart to use this bag again. To my credit, the bag was zipped for storage in Chloe's room, so the smell was contained and growing for 3 months. When I removed the orange, I saw what appeared to be toxic gas exuding from the bag. So, my viewers, please reassure me I am not the only one who has done something this "stinky". I've shared my story and now share yours and we will try not to "remember" the stinks together.

Cinderella Chloe

Is it to early for this? She's really into pushing things right now, so I thought "why not". The swiffer did get the best of her when she tried to turn the corner. She loves to be doing whatever mom is doing and be wherever mom is. She's my little buddy!

A day at the farm

Chloe's first time to a farm. She loved the tractor/hay ride.

This is the new baby horse. She got down close to Chloe and let Chloe give her a pat on the head.

Chloe in a field of weeds...or are the flowers? They were just beautiful in any case

A little BIG project

I built this shelf (whisper: with a little help from Brad). It all started because Chloe discovered the Surf and I thought that wouldn't be good for her to eat that so we needed to get it off the floor. Also, I was tired of seeing all the laundry stuff scattered about and everytime we have to take the dog's bowl away from chloe it ends up on the washer and gets in the way of laundry...so here you have it-our new shelf. I went to Ace Hardware and I bought all the stuff and I even bought a drill. I was really quite proud of myself. So, I got home and was putting it all together when, darn it, I had to ask Brad a question. There are some things boys just know and girls never can know. They are secets that disguise themselves in the body of drills, bits, measuring, etc. Our little shelf wouldn't have been accomplished without each other.

Really, it was a FUN RUN.

Saturday morning was the 30th annual Osteopathic Fun Run, and we signed ourselves up. The original plan was to run the race as a family. Brad pushing Chloe and me right behind. But...as Missouri weather has proven time and time again, it rains or is cold on days that it should normally be warm (Examples: Easter, anytime we go to Nauvoo, a planned bike ride:))
So this was us on a chilly Saturday morning before the race. We left Chloe at the provided baby sitter. Right before we started, I told Brad to not hang with me and just "take off". And he did! All I could see was his little blue-hatted head bobbing up and down way in front and then I couldn't see him anymore. During many races, Brad usually comes back to "run me in". Look at him letting me be in front...Ahhh,cute! I always have a gleeful expression. I remember in the Salt Lake marathon, just smiling and waving and thanking people on the roadsides. Brad told me I didn't have to thank them, but it was all I could do from breaking down and crying, so I smiled. This picture, I truly am "gleeful" because the finish was about 100 yards ahead.
Who is this guy? The winner ofthe 5k race. The OVERALL winner, as in, he was in the front of the race, he was the one who had to turn over his shoulder and see if anyone was behind him. he was the one to break the tape (to bad there was no tape) He finished in 20 minutes. This is a picture of him receiving his prize. (Chloe appears to be the prize, but he did get a nice plaque and a free pizza and 2 bowling tickets. The real prize was bragging rights for the wife. Not bad for a med student who runs about once a week, if that. Do you like my gold medal? Turns out I was the 3 gal to finish and first in my age group. So, as Brad says, it truly was a FUN RUN!
