Sweats. They have made a come back, with tight ankles and all. Look at my full forehead of bangs. I can say I never did the claw bangs loaded with hairspray. Millhollow. I used to make up dances and charge the neighbors to come watch. My sweet neighbors...they actually came. I used to sell pictures door to door. My sweet neighbors...they bought them. Once I was selling pictures and this lady asked us if we needed a drink (probably water) and my friend Kristine said, "could we have some hot cocoa". I was probably 9. we'd sell koolaid at the top of our street. We made enough money to go to Erickson's pharmacy and buy lots of candy and divide it up and eat it all before we got home.
Hats. This was sixth grade graduation. Everyone had teva sandles. Girbeau jeans. The big chiffon bow tied up ponytails. I am in the turquise shirt. I used to have a shirt that matched my shoes, or hat in this case. I would alternate sock colors to match my shirt. I'd wear two shirts so that I could roll the sleeves and let the shirt underneath show on the sleeves. The sixth graders went through a tetherball phase. I remember being really good.
Another classic hat. I only had braces for about a year. I always had colorful elastics put on my teeth. Why would I want to draw more attention to my mouth! I remember lots of kids throwing their retainers away in the garbage can at lunch time. I remember serving lunch. Why was that a coveted thing to do?? The walls were all carpeted in my elementary. My 6th grade teacher wore a black dicky under a see throughish white sweater.
Saved by the Bell, Punky Brewster, hightop shoes, jelly shoes, flip flops used to be called thongs. And yes, the photobooth at Woolworths. Me and my cute friend Sunny.

What a fun post to read you were such a cute kid.
Those were the good old days :) I don't remember wearing two shirts so I could roll up the sleeves, but I do remember Teva sandals and multiple colored socks like Punky Brewster. I always thought she was so cool because she tied a bandana around her leg.
You guys were rockin' the hats and such. I'm so lucky to know both of you and relish in your delightness.
this is me, laughing out loud. seriously. the lyman twins, garred lentz, chelsea's glasses. thanks for the reminder of how good everyone looked in 1992. so hot right then.
I love your post. I remeber thinking I was really cute when I wore a chiffon bow with a hat. And pathetically enough I was one of those girls who had the claw bang and I have pictures to prove it. I'm trying to figure out how to keep those horrible pictures away from my kids in the future.
So funny! I too remember the layered shirts to roll the sleeves and the layered socks and using 2 or even 3 different colored scrunchies in the hair to pull it all together. I hope those styles don't come back! :)
I read the Power of One after mission so it's a new love. I'm glad you like it too I think that is the book I will recommend for my book club if they haven't read it.
It was fun to get caught up on your blog again. Chloe is getting so big and cuter everytime I see her. Isn't this age just sooo much even though it can be very chaotic at times. Love the pic's...I used to wear layered shirts and then like three pair of different color socks. I looked sooooo HOT!!
Very cute. It makes me remember old times too. Who knew you would have those same bangs again that you had in 6th grade.
Hi Mel, it's Rachel.
